Poor Money Makin'

I made my first penny on Google Adsense yesterday. Actually, truth be told, I made TWO pennies! I got pretty giddy over it, since I haven't actually taken the time to really learn how to use Adsense to it's potential. I spent a little bit of time last night poking around and trying to fix up the ads on both of my blogs -- but I was unsure about whether or not it would actually make a difference.


Today I was checking out some of the updates over at Somewhere Over the Debt, and I noticed that Sarah, the blogger over there, uses Shylock for Wordpress (like me!) and she was having a lot of luck and bigger profit by:

• Running big, bold ads on her older posts (7+ days)
• Eliminating all sidebar ads
• Using a horizontal link ad at the top

I changed my own Adsense settings around and tweaked them similarly, so here's hoping for the best!



In other money making news, I found a very expensive pen the other day, apparently it retails for almost $300.00! I cannot even FATHOM spending that much money on a pen- I'm so disorganized that I lose pens on a daily basis- so that's much too big a risk to take! I realize that lots of people value these pens though, so I sent the pen over to a friend of mine who does a lot of selling on E-bay. He put the pen up last night, and already it has 3 bids! I'm hoping to make $100 off of it, it's currently at $26.00.
